1. I've been developing with Adobe AIR recently, and noticed that an app was created for Wordpress users to get notice of new comments posted, and approve/disapprove/delete them from their desktop (probably using the XML-RPC mechanism internally, but I haven't looked at the actual code). Similarly, this might be useful as a supplementary application for use with Trellis Desk. Depending on how Trellis handles certain actions, it could be pretty easy to display new tickets, and even to possibly reply to them from a desktop application.
2. I just got an email from Paglo, a network crawler/statistic engine. They have just partnered with ZenDesk. Now, although I don't use Paglo (it had trouble negotiating with my Linksys routers), the ability to network with them to get Trellis Desk's name further out in to the population's eye might be helpful (if you're ready for such an influx of users). Honestly, I much prefer the abilities offered by Trellis Desk. If the influx of users would be difficult to handle, you could always do what ZenDesk does and offload the costs of support with either a support package, a hosting deal, or both. Thus is the way of OpenSource for money.
Below is the contents of the email itself, if it is helpful:

You can now manage all of your tickets directly through Paglo. We are happy to announce that we have partnered with Zendesk to bring help desk functionality to you.
We like the folks at Zendesk and how they describe what they do...
“Zendesk is inspiring the help desk 2.0 movement through a focus on enlightened customer support. The service extends good help desk karma to any company looking to offer professional-grade support service with very little effort.”
Log in to your Paglo account at www.paglo.com and you will see the new Zendesk application icon. Click on it and follow the two simple steps to connect an existing Zendesk account to Paglo or follow the link and set up a new Zendesk account.
Their pricing starts at $9 per month, so there is really no risk to get started.
Send me an email or call if you have any questions.
Best,
Bill
