If you have all users members of the certain department, say.. "staff" for example, just make sure you have the notifications checked for new tickets in their department.

I'm confused, I can't find a specific area to assign a group to a department - only a dropdown that has the individual staff members. Perhaps I'm looking in the incorrect place?

You are looking at auto assign, yet the notifications you want don't depend on the auto assign. They depend on whether or not a ticket has come into a specific Group and if that user in that group has email notifications turned on.

    Example:

First Create a Department for your specific tickets... for example "Building 1"

Next Create a Group Called 'Building 1 Support'.
-Be sure to assign default permissions to the specific departments you wish them to have access to (Building 1).
-Also be sure the "ACP Access" is set to 'yes'.

Last, assign a member to the Group (Building 1 Support)
-Make sure they member is set to receive notifications (Their Departments only)

Now when a ticket is created in the "Building 1" Department a notification will be sent to any user within the 'Building 1 Support' group. That is assuming you have check marked the notification box within their profile.

Let me know if you have any trouble.
