    I followed and setup the following:

    http://forums.accord5.com/topic/email-notifications

    However, all test emails sent in have so far not piped in, nothing showing up in the ticket admin table.

    Any suggestions? Sure would love to get this guy working

    Many thanls :-)

    Are there instructions anywhere on how to get email piping to work?

    So far I haven't found them. My apology if I missed them.

    Thanks

    I just installed the latest version of Trellis Desk this afternoon, and I was intrigued by the idea of e-mail piping by using mail forwarders in the CPanel and the "pipe.php" file in the "sources" folder. I followed the directions as best I could in the CPanel...creating a mail forwarder called "helpdesk@domain.org" where "domain.org" is our website URL. Also, I followed the directions that are given in the link provided by DJ to "Setup Email Piping in Trellis Desk". When I got to the section on "Configuring cPanel (X3 skin)", the path to my "pipe.php" file was:

    /public_html/helpdesk/sources/pipe.php

    ...and the end result appears to actually add a couple more folders in front of "/public_html". In Trellis Desk, I also edited the group to include "Guest" so that an e-mail address not registered in the system yet could send an e-mail to Trellis Desk. However, the e-mail I tried to send to "helpdesk@..." was returned to me as undeliverable. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

    Thanks...
    Chris

    @hoferchr,

    Did you enable it within the department?

    And have you 777'd pipe.php?

    @peter_anderson:

    Yes, "Enable Email Piping" is set at "Yes" for the "Staff" department I am looking at.

    I was not aware that "pipe.php" had to be set at 777. Right now, the permissions for that file are set at: 0644.

    As a side note...I just chatted with a help desk representative from our web host about this, and he said that I should change the permissions on "pipe.php" to 755 rather than 777.

    Also, something that was not mentioned on the help documentation provided by the people who make Trellis Desk is that the help desk person said I also need to create an actual e-mail account for helpdesk@... IN ADDITION TO creating the e-mail forwarder that will pipe to the program. Is this true?

  7. Hoferchr,

    You need to have a valid e-mail created and the forwarder setup for that e-mail in order for piping to Trellis Desk to work.

    Hi Ryan...

    o.k. Thank you. I will give that a try tonight after work. That might be good to add to your instructions on setting this up (within your documentation). I did not see anything about this.

    Thanks again...

    I'm using cPanel 11.25 and cannot seem to get the piping to work. I just read in this thread that piping for members works, so I upgraded myself to a full member, tried to reply to the ticket and still get the bounced local delivery failed message. What exactly did you do to get it to work? Permissions of pipe.php have to be 755?

    This has to be set for each department in the configuration - enable guest emails: Yes.

    hoferchr - thanks for your feedback on this. After following all the initial instructions, I couldn't get the piping to work. As soon as I changed the "pipe.php" to 755 it worked.
